‘The Last Kingdom’ is a British historical fiction television series based on Bernard Cornwell's novel series The Saxon Stories. It first aired on BBC America and BBC Two in 2015, and then on Netflix in 2018.

On March 9th, 2022, Netflix will premiere the fifth and final season of 'The Last Kingdom,' but as we've learned, it won't be the end for Uhtred.

A first look of the trailer and some first official images also came alongside the production of the film.

About ‘The Last Kingdom’ Season 5

'The Last Kingdom' is a Netflix Original historical drama based on Bernard Cornwell's The Saxon Stories. The series was formerly a co-production between the BBC and Netflix, but since the third season, Netflix has been solely responsible for its production.

Season 4 was introduced to Netflix during a time when Netflix top 10s were accessible, and while Netflix has never revealed watching data for the series, it was added at a period when Netflix top 10s were available. The series spent a total of 25 days in the UK top ten and 20 days in the US top ten.

‘The Bombardment’ Season 5 Production Details

Some of the cast members from The Last Kingdom, such as Mark Rowley (Finan) and Emily Cox, are still active in the series (Brida). We've also seen a few photographs of the continuing development of The Last Kingdom season 5 since filming began.

Ian Cooper of the Teesside Gazette, a local newspaper in Middlesbrough, North East England, reported on April 21st that filming for the series was taking place on Blackhall Beach. There are a total of 28 photos from the set, with actress Eva Birthistle reprising her role as Hild and Ossian Perret reprising his part as Wihtgar from The Witcher.

Every facet of the production of a series like The Last Kingdom is tremendously time-consuming. As they were filming episode 10 of the series on June 18th, 2021, Jon East hinted that filming was nearing completion. Then, on June 22nd, 2021, Jon East announced that The Last Kingdom was 'in the digital can,' referring to the film's transition to post-production.

Netflix announced on February 9th, 2022 that The Last Kingdom season 5 will be available globally on March 9th, 2022.
