Sevdam Karadeniz, the NOW series that was given an early ending, said goodbye to viewers with its 4th episode. After the finale, Erdem Adilce, who played Kuzey, shared photos from the show on his Instagram account along with an emotional farewell message. His words to his co-star Meltem Akçöl and his thanks to the viewers 'the rating meters didn't see' caught fans' attention.
Erdem Adilce said goodbye to Sevdam Karadeniz with photos from the series.
Erdem Adilce posted photos from the set and from the series on Instagram, and described his feelings about the short journey in a long note.
'We have sadly come to the end of a story that deserved a completely different path. Sometimes when it doesn't work, it doesn't work; everything happens the way it is meant to…' Erdem Adilce wrote, adding that the team had tried to do justice to their work. He said the attention such a short journey received was because everyone had done their part.
Erdem Adilce's words to his co-star Meltem Akçöl stood out.
The most talked-about part of the post was what he wrote to Meltem Akçöl, who played Zeyşan. Erdem Adilce thanked her for being a wonderful partner and for helping them push their potential even further. His line 'One of the best things this job gave me was you' did not go unnoticed by viewers who felt the story of Kuzey and Zeyşan had been left unfinished.
The actor also thanked producer Banu Akdeniz, who gave him the chance to play Kuzey, as well as the series' director. He wrote that he was grateful to the whole team he worked with, both in front of and behind the camera.
Erdem Adilce also sent a special message to the viewers "the rating meters didn't see."
One sentence in his message was a reminder of how short the series' life was. 'To our viewers, whom the rating meters didn't see but whose huge support we witnessed, thank you,' Erdem Adilce wrote. He closed his post with: 'That's all from us for now, see you in new stories.'
A short run on screen
Those words had a reason behind them. Sevdam Karadeniz premiered on October 12 with a 2.11 rating in the Total audience group, but the decision to end it came after its second episode. The final episode drew 0.91 in Total, ranked 34th, and the series left the screen without ever making the top 30.
Meltem Akçöl had also apologized to viewers after the finale trailer for not being able to give them a real ending. She had earlier said that the team was not even able to shoot the series' final episode.
