New Record from Steam: Over 36 Million!
Steam, one of the world's most popular gaming platforms, continues to break records one after another. This time Steam broke its own record with more than 36 million concurrent users.
Calling Steam the fortress of PC gaming is probably not an exaggeration.
The platform owned by Valve, one of the giants of the gaming world, is still in the leading position thanks to years of user habits and useful features against strong competitors such as Epic Games Store.
Steam broke the record again, just a few days after the last record.
With this record, Steam managed to push the number of concurrent users above 36 million for the first time, breaking the old record of 35,385,530. The new record, set last Sunday, saw the number of concurrent users reach 36,354,393.
So which games brought the record to Steam?
Surpassing the 36 million mark, the most played game on Steam on record day was Counter-Strike 2 with 1.4 million players. Valve's ageless brand was followed by Dota 2, PUBG: Battlegrounds and Apex Legends, while the surprise hit of the year, Helldivers 2, also contributed to the number.
The new record has many remarkable features.
While it's not surprising that the games that contributed the most to the record are popular free-to-play titles, the impact of the smash hit Helldivers 2 cannot be underestimated. In addition, the once popular debate that 'PC gaming is dying' is no longer true.
