Meteorology Issues 7-Day Weather Report: What to Expect Across the Country
As spring begins to fully reveal its face, the General Directorate of Meteorology has released a new weekly report that concerns millions. According to the forecasts covering the dates from May 9 to May 15, the weather conditions across Turkey are divided into two: on one hand, temperatures are rising above the seasonal norms, while on the other hand, thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain are expected.
The General Directorate of Meteorology (GDM) has released the weather forecast for the period of May 9-15.
According to recent assessments, thermometers are on the rise, particularly in the northern, central, and western regions. It's anticipated that temperatures in these areas will exceed seasonal norms, while in other regions, they are expected to remain at springtime levels. Notably, temperatures along the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts are predicted to approach the 30-degree mark.
Despite the rise in temperature, the wave of rainy weather is not completely losing its effect. At the beginning of the week, warnings were issued for heavy showers in the northern parts of Central Anatolia and the western Black Sea regions. The rainfall, which is expected to be locally heavy around Ankara, Bolu, and Çankırı, is seen to shift towards the interior parts of Eastern Anatolia and the Black Sea from the middle of the week (Wednesday and Thursday).
What will the weather be like?
Weekend: The west and south will be sunny, while the interior regions will experience intermittent thunderstorms.
Monday and Tuesday: The temperatures continue to rise. Over Istanbul and its surroundings, the sky will be dominated by partly cloudy weather.
Midweek: The rainy weather is moving eastward, while the west continues to enjoy sunny and warm conditions.
