McKenna Grace Wore an Embroidered Landscape to the Hunger Games Premiere
McKenna Grace was one of the most talked-about guests at the London premiere of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Her gown looked like a painting: blue sky, purple mountains, green meadows and three-dimensional flowers. It also echoed the film's poster, and the story behind it is almost as surprising as the dress itself.
McKenna Grace let her dress do the talking at the Hunger Games premiere.
The 20-year-old actor, known for Gifted, The Handmaid's Tale and Ghostbusters, plays Maysilee Donner in the new Hunger Games film. She attended the London premiere on October 28, and her look quickly spread on social media and reached the international fashion press.
The gown is Almée Couture's "Spring Symphony", from the Le Jardin Des Rêves collection.
The top of the dress shows a sky worked in blue and silver, followed by purple mountains, green meadows and colorful wildflowers. Beads, sequins and fine hand embroidery build the scene, while three-dimensional purple flowers and a sheer train finish the skirt.
A heart-shaped neckline and delicate straps complete the silhouette. The landscape closely resembles the 50th Hunger Games arena from the film's poster.
The surprising part: the dress was not made for her.
According to Red Carpet Fashion Awards, stylist Molly Dickson picked the gown from the brand's existing designs. So the match with the film's poster was found in an existing couture piece, not created for the premiere.
This is not the first time Grace has nodded to the franchise during the press tour. She has previously worn looks that referenced Katniss Everdeen.
