Matt Reeves Reveals Why 'The Batman 2' Was Delayed Until 2027

The sequel to The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson and Zoë Kravitz, has been delayed once again.

Originally set for release on October 3, 2025, The Batman 2 was later pushed to October 2, 2026. However, the film’s release date has now been rescheduled to October 1, 2027.
Director Matt Reeves confirmed that filming will begin later this year despite the delay.

Speaking on the Golden Globe Awards red carpet, Reeves shared that progress on the film is going well. In an interview with Deadline, he stated:
'I’m happy to say we’ll start shooting this year. We’re continuing to develop the story, and we’re working on something that we hope will surprise audiences.'
Addressing the delay, Reeves explained that they are currently in an intense phase of script development.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, he added:
'We’re still working on the script. Next year will be an exciting start for production, and I’m really looking forward to it.'
