Ali Baybaş, a 77-year-old Turkish citizen stranded in the city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia for nearly 40 years, is seeking assistance from authorities to return to his homeland. The elderly man, who is grappling with serious health issues, has been unable to leave the country due to a missed court case in the past and entanglement in official procedures.

Originally registered as a resident of Kavak village, which is part of the Gürün district in Sivas, Ali Baybaş allegedly traveled to Saudi Arabia 40 years ago for work or official matters. During his stay in Mecca, he was reportedly prevented from leaving the country by Saudi authorities due to his failure to attend a court hearing that was held against him. Baybaş, who insists that he was not informed of the court date through the consulate, has been unable to return to Turkey for 40 years due to legal and bureaucratic obstacles.
Ali Baybaş explained that he frequently falls due to a loss of balance, which in turn has caused the injuries on his head. Making a plea to the authorities, Baybaş said, 'I am from Kavak village, part of the Gürün district in Sivas, born in 1949. I have been here for 40 years. There was a court hearing here, but I didn't attend. The consulate didn't inform me about the court date. The injuries on my head are due to my falls. I couldn't maintain my balance. My arm, leg, and waist are paralyzed. My only wish is for Turkey to take me back.'
