‘Indiana Jones 5’ Is On The Way - 2023 Release Date Confirmed

Indiana Jones’ fifth appearance on the big screen, after numerous long delays, is finally on its way. This follow-up to 2008's Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is yet to be titled, though an extensive and great cast has been announced. Here are all the details that have been released so far.

The plot has been kept heavily under wraps! Nothing is confirmed, though rumors circulated that further supernatural elements, brought forth even more heavily in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, would continue to develop.

Logan director James Mangold takes the helm as co-writer and director on the fifth Indiana Jones movie, marking the first time Steven Spielberg and George Lucas are not actively involved. Spielberg remains only as a producer, though cast members have commented that Mangold's work has stayed reminiscent of Spielberg's iconic vision.

Disney initially set the release date for July 19, 2019, moving the date for various reasons, including the COVID-19 pandemic. Filming is now officially complete, starting in June 2021 and continuing in various locations across the world.

The problems with Harrison Ford's age came up constantly in the past years since Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, but there was never any doubt from Ford, Mangold, or Spielberg that Indiana Jones would be recast. Though the idea was certainly a hot topic, Ford is expected to be digitally de-aged in the upcoming film.

The fifth Indiana Jones movie will release on June 30, 2023.
