Get Ready Istanbul: AKOM Announces Temperatures Will Hit 30 Degrees This Week
With the arrival of June, the weather in Istanbul has completely shifted its course towards summer. According to the latest data shared by the Disaster Affairs Directorate (AKOM) of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, the metropolis will be dominated by sunny and warm skies throughout the week.
AKOM has announced: In the upcoming week, temperatures in Istanbul will rise to 30 degrees.
AKOM has disclosed the weather forecast for the upcoming week. The day in Istanbul kicked off with a mild atmosphere around 21 degrees on Monday, June 1st. As the sun began to assert its presence during the midday hours, the mercury soared to levels around 27 degrees. The temperature is expected to drop back to 20 degrees in the evening hours, while the night will offer a cool sleeping environment as it hovers around 18 degrees. During these days when the sea temperature is measured at 19 degrees, the humidity level is anticipated to fluctuate between 45 and 75 percent. This implies that the perceived temperature could occasionally feel higher.
Brief showers are set to make their mark.
The most critical point in the report shared by AKOM is the detail of wind and precipitation. The Lodos, carrying a warm air wave from the south, will blow at a speed of 5 to 25 km per hour today, pushing the temperature above the seasonal norms. On the other hand, even though the weather is predominantly sunny, brief and local showers may be seen, particularly in our northern districts (such as Sarıyer, Beykoz, and Şile). These showers, expected to fall between 1 to 2 kg per square meter, may feel like a 'summer rain', but it's beneficial to be prepared to avoid being caught off guard.
Weekly forecast: The 30-degree threshold is being surpassed.
Starting from Tuesday, Istanbul will be experiencing full-on summer weather. Here's a brief summary of the upcoming days:
June 2, Tuesday: The sky will be mostly clear with a few clouds, and the highest temperature will hit 29 degrees.
June 3, Wednesday: Expect partly cloudy skies with a high of 28 degrees.
June 4, Thursday: It's anticipated to be the hottest day of the week, with thermometers expected to reach 30 degrees.
Weekend: The sunny skies will continue on both Saturday and Sunday, with temperatures expected to stabilize around 27-29 degrees.
AKOM (Disaster Coordination Center) has issued reminders, particularly advising citizens (especially the elderly and children) to avoid direct exposure to the sun during midday hours when the sun is at its peak.
