Generation Z is increasingly growing weary of the rapid and superficial experiences brought about by the online dating world. A recent study reveals that a quarter of users find their matches 'strange'. Young adults express that modern dating often feels devoid of sincerity and resembles a game.
Here are the details...
A recent study has revealed that young adults are increasingly becoming overwhelmed by online dating apps.
According to a survey conducted on 1,000 adults, one-fifth of Generation Z describes these applications as 'unhealthy,' while a quarter characterizes their matches as 'rude' or 'weird.'
Only one third of users describe the people they chat with as "polite", while a quarter of them evaluate their spouses negatively.
Generation Z appears to be a generation that doesn't place much emphasis on appearance. Only 27% of them state that physical attractiveness is the most important aspect of a profile. This percentage stands at 36% for Generation Y, while for Generation X and Baby Boomers, it's 35%.
The research indicates that the biggest turn-offs on dating apps include long lists of demands, conceit, and overly filtered photos.
On average, participants admitted to being ghosted seven times, yet they confessed to ghosting others only five times. One in five participants claimed to have experienced catfishing, which is only 7% higher than those who believed they had formed a genuine connection.
When it comes to meeting a partner, almost half prefer to encounter them at a social event.
Getting to know each other through friends or establishing connections based on common hobbies are also among the popular choices.
