Big5 Men's Season Kicks Off as 25 Hopefuls Compete to Join Türkiye's Next Boyband

Aiming to breathe new life into pop music in Turkey, the Big5 project made quite a splash with its band Manifest, which was formed in its inaugural season.
The competition broadcasted on YouTube swiftly became one of the most followed music projects among young viewers, while the members of Manifest gained a broad fan base with their songs and stage performances.
Now, all eyes are firmly set on the upcoming season. This time, the goal is to form Turkey's new male music group.
The Big5 Men's Prep Season officially kicked off with the first episode airing on August 5th.
In this season of the competition, those who stand out in various criteria such as dance, vocals, stage energy, charisma, and team harmony will have the chance to secure a spot in the boy band to be formed after a grueling marathon lasting months.
Throughout the preparation season, the candidates will not only have to demonstrate their singing or dancing abilities; they will also be required to prove the discipline, screen energy, and team spirit that an idol should possess.
A total of 25 male candidates are vying in the pre-season.
Candidates are about to embark on an intense training camp, accompanied by professional vocal coaches, dance instructors, and performance consultants. Throughout the season, contestants will showcase their talents in a total of 6 different tasks.
At the end of each task, the jury will evaluate the performances and those found lacking will bid farewell to the competition. No new contestants will be brought in to replace those who are eliminated.
By the end of the preparation season, only 15 contestants will remain standing. These individuals will earn the title of 'Big5 Artist' and secure their place in the main competition that will kick off in September. The process to determine the final male group will commence in the main season.
The show is broadcasted every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 4 p.m. on the Big5 Turkey YouTube channel.
In the first episode, which lasted approximately 1 hour and 12 minutes, the contestants gathered in the same studio for the first time.
The screens reflected the introduction of 25 candidates from different cities, their first impressions, and their attempts to adapt to the camp atmosphere. From the very first minutes, it was observed that the contestants were carefully scrutinizing each other, beginning to analyze their strong competitors.
The coaches, on the other hand, conveyed quite clear messages to the contestants from day one.
It was emphasized that this competition is not just a dance or singing contest, but the group to be formed will be a real pop group. Stage charisma, screen light, communication skills, and teamwork were underlined as being just as important as technical performance.
At the end of the first episode, the first 'Select Group' consisting of names that caught the coaches' attention was determined.

Another noticeable name is Kaan Yıldırım, who has been involved in folk dances for 12 years. Currently dancing in the State Performing Arts group, the contestant has been focusing on hip-hop for the last three years. With his ambitious freestyle performance, Kaan became one of the most talked-about contestants on social media after the first episode.
One of the names that caught attention with his dance background was Yiğit Güney. Yiğit, who started dancing at the age of 14, has been a dance instructor since he was 18. The contestant, who has been a professional dancer on the stage of many famous singers, is seen as one of the most ambitious names in the competition thanks to his stage experience.
On the music side, Berkay Kendigül stands out. Berkay, who has been receiving vocal training for about 9 years, also plays the piano. The contestant, who was introduced to American Latin dance at a young age, is considered one of the most suitable names for the boyband concept with both his vocal and dance background.
