Bade İşçil Opens Up About Why She Has Stayed Off Screen
Bade İşçil, remembered as Şebnem in Ezel and Banu in Kuzey Güney, is one of the actresses who has not returned to television with a new series for quite some time. According to the Turkish outlet Gecce, she was spotted on a walk in Baltalimanı, and when reporters asked, she spoke openly about why she has stayed away from the screen and whether she might act in series again.
Bade İşçil became a familiar face through her roles as Şebnem in Ezel and Banu in Kuzey Güney.
She began acting in 2007 with Metropol Cafe and had her breakthrough in 2009 with the character of Şebnem in Ezel. She then played Banu, the wife of Güney Tekinoğlu, in Kuzey Güney, and appeared on the big screen in the film Eski Sevgili alongside Tolgahan Sayışman.
She later drew attention as the obsessive Pelin in Ufak Tefek Cinayetler, joined the cast of the Netflix production Aşk 101, and in 2022 played Belgin in Aslında Özgürsün, a GAIN series adapted from Duygu Asena's novel. In recent years, according to the report, she has appeared in the news mostly through photos of her daily life rather than through a new project.
"If nothing suitable comes my way, I don't want to take part," Bade İşçil said when asked why she is absent from TV.
The latest of those everyday photos shows her walking in Baltalimanı in a simple outfit. Asked why she has been away from the screen, she answered the reporters' questions and summed up her approach to her career: 'Bana göre bir şey gelmeyince ben de yer almak istemiyorum' (roughly, 'If nothing comes my way that suits me, I don't want to be part of it').
'I Am a Person of Routine'
The same cautious attitude carries over to her daily life, she said. 'Ben düzen insanıyım' ('I'm a person of routine'), she told reporters, adding that she has certain fixed habits she can't live without, that she likes order and doesn't like taking risks. She did not announce any new project, so a return to series is not ruled out, but it appears she will only come back for a role that feels right to her.
