Woman Shares Drastic Physical Transformation During Her Pregnancy with a Baby Girl
During pregnancy, a woman undergoes significant changes both physically and emotionally. On top of all this, they also have to contend with longstanding superstitions and practices related to pregnancy. Some even link the physical changes experienced by the mother to the gender of the baby.
'simgeertk' shared her transformation during pregnancy. Her video, shared with the note 'I'm just pregnant with a girl, how much can I change?', particularly garnered the admiration of mothers with daughters.

So, what exactly is this issue of fearing the changes that come with 'having a baby girl'?
According to a long-standing belief, it is thought that female babies 'take' or 'steal' their mother's beauty while in the womb. This is claimed to result in the following physical changes in the mother:
Swelling or coarsening of facial features.
Appearance of acne or spots on the skin.
Widening of the nose.
A general feeling of being 'tired' or 'uglified.'
In ancient societies, it was believed that female babies inherently possessed an aesthetic and beauty potential. Swellings, acne, or spots appearing on the mother's face during pregnancy were interpreted as 'The mother's beauty is being transferred to the emerging female.' In other words, it was perceived as if the female baby was 'borrowing' from her mother to form her own beauty.
But is there any scientific basis to this?
Although they cannot explain it scientifically, people have always observed differences between mothers expecting male and female babies.
During pregnancies with female babies, the level of estrogen in the mother's body may increase more, which can sometimes lead to more edema (swelling) and oiliness on the skin.
On the other hand, during pregnancies with male babies, the effect of testosterone can make some women's skin appear brighter, and their hair seem thicker. The ancients noticed this difference and turned it into a folk saying, 'Girls steal beauty, boys beautify the mother.'
Although it is completely unscientific, attributing the physical effects created by pregnancy hormones to the 'baby's gender' is a romantic (and somewhat humorous) urban myth that has been passed down from generation to generation for centuries.
