Under the National Health Service (NHS), thirty hospitals in the UK have joined the Cancer Vaccine Project, which aims to produce personalized cancer vaccines.
Utilizing mRNA Technology
The project utilizes mRNA technology, matching the genes of cancer patients with mRNA-based vaccines.
Targeting Residual Cancer Cells
These newly developed vaccines will not only recognize and destroy residual cancer cells post-treatment but also help reduce the risk of cancer recurrence. Elliot Pfebve, the first person recorded to be treated with a personalized vaccine against bowel cancer, commented, “If successful, this will be a medical breakthrough.
