Is The Girl from Plainville Based on a True Story?

Produced by Echo Lake Entertainment, Littleton Road Productions and UCP, The Girl from Plainville is based on the true events leading up to the suicide of 18-year-old Conrad Roy III. His death sparked a major trial whereby Conrad's 17-year-old girlfriend, Michelle Carter, was tried and charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Trailer

The trailer features Elle Fanning as the show's dark and mischievous protagonist Michelle Carter whose upbeat personality slowly fades horrifyingly. The video gives a glimpse into the young couple's relationship as well as the dramatic trial that accorded Michelle global fame.

Adding more intense seasoning to the grievances, the Roy family points fingers at each other, barely accepting their son's demise and trying to figure out the cause of his untimely death.
