However, a tragic incident that occurred on the night of March 30th, transitioning into the 31st, in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, where he was for a Ramadan Bayram concert, deeply shook everyone. Volkan Konak, who suddenly fell ill while singing on stage, was first treated at the concert venue. Despite all the efforts of the doctors at Gazimağusa State Hospital, where he was taken by ambulance, it was announced that the artist could not be saved and lost his life due to a sudden heart attack caused by a vascular blockage.
As Turkey was discussing this heartbreaking news for days, the events that took place at the funeral also left a lasting impression. Thousands of people bid farewell to the master artist in Trabzon Maçka, and tears flowed freely. The greatest sorrow, however, was experienced by his wife of 33 years, Selma Konak, and their children. Selma Konak's statements in the following months, such as 'I still sleep with Volkan's undershirt, I never washed it', 'Your name used to be written on billboards, now it was written on a coffin' and 'I miss you senselessly', laid bare that her longing for her husband has not diminished.

Selma Konak stated that there wasn't a trace of pain on his face, and he looked incredibly peaceful. She confessed that she still believed he would wake up at that moment.
Selma Konak described touching her husband's face, saying, 'I thought any moment now, he would open his eyes, sit up, and call out to me. I couldn't reconcile his death.' She conveyed her denial through these words. She expressed that she spent minutes in that hospital room, looking at him and pleading, 'You can't leave us like this. This must be a joke.'
