Salaries Surge in Turkey's Neighbor Bulgaria: Average Monthly Wage Reaches €1,444
Salaries are soaring in our neighboring country. The National Statistical Institute (NSI) of Bulgaria has unveiled data that clearly illustrates the rapid shifts in economic balances and a significant upward momentum in worker salaries. The average monthly gross salary in Bulgaria reached 1,444 euros in the second quarter of 2026, marking a 2.6% increase compared to the previous quarter.
Salaries have skyrocketed in Turkey's neighboring country.
Economic growth in Bulgaria has proven beneficial for workers, with average salaries rising to 1,444 euros. The Bulgarian National Statistics Institute has laid bare the trajectory of this wage increase. When compared to the same period last year (the second quarter of 2025), it becomes apparent that the annual growth rate of salaries has reached an impressive level of 9.8 percent. Gross salaries peaked at 1,476 euros in April, then recorded as 1,434 euros in May, and finally, 1,421 euros in June.
The salary increase in the mining sector has reached 24 percent.
On an annual basis, the most aggressive salary increase was experienced in the mining sector with a rate of 24 percent, followed by agriculture, forestry, and fishing with a rise of 19.5 percent. Once again, the highest earners emerged from the world of technology. In the second quarter of 2026, the field with the highest average salary was the information, communication, and creative industries sector, with a monthly income of 3,079 euros. This figure was followed by the finance and insurance sector with an average of 2,140 euros. Employees in the electricity, heat, and gas production and distribution sector settled into the third position on the list, with an average of 2,036 euros.
The lowest average salary in the country belonged to hotel and restaurant employees, at 918 euros. Restaurant workers were followed by agriculture and forestry workers with 1,031 euros, and employees in other service branches with 1,053 euros.
