The Central Bank of Russia has taken a crucial step that significantly affects cash transactions across the country. These new bills, which draw attention due to their similar designs, also stand out with their high-level security measures.
Russia has released its new banknotes into the market.
The Central Bank of Russia has implemented a significant decision that will directly impact the circulation of cash. According to an official announcement made by the bank's administration, as of July 10, 2026, new 100 ruble banknotes, specially designed and dedicated to the Central Federal District, have been released into the market. The visual similarity of these newly circulated banknotes to the existing ones on the market has not escaped the attention of citizens and economic circles from the outset.
The new 100 ruble banknote, recorded as the 2026 edition, features the bell tower of the Moscow Kremlin on the front. Along with this, an iconic part of the historic Spasskaya Tower and Russia's official state emblem are also present on the front. On the back design, the Rzhev Soviet War Memorial rises, accompanied by a stylized special map of the Central Federal District.
In the printing of the new banknotes, a substantial budget was allocated not only for visuals but also for security technologies. The next-generation security features developed to prevent counterfeiting are such that anyone who handles the money can easily notice. Two different types of security fibers, special colored fibers that can turn red and blue under light, and gray fibers, were integrated into the paper texture of the banknote. To make counterfeiting impossible, a 2-millimeter wide, four-part immersion holographic security strip was embedded into the banknote.
