New upcoming Need For Speed game could be next-gen only
2022 has just begun, and a new Need For Speed game is now racing its way to the industry. The upcoming NFS game, according to Jeff Grubb, is set to release in November of this year. However, neither EA nor Criterion have officially confirmed the actual release date. The game was also said to be exclusive to next-generation consoles only.
“Need for Speed is still coming this year… that’s true, that game should be coming in November,”
“If you are a Need for Speed fan who has bought a next-gen console, here’s some news; it’s next-gen only. They are shifting to next-gen only.”
Don't give up hope yet PC users, since an official confirmation has yet to be issued. It's possible that it was stated to be next-gen only since the game could be very detailed that previous-gen consoles might not be able to handle it.
Grubb has also stated that the game could take place in a Miami inspired location, possibly having connections with NFS Heat which took place in Palm City, that's also based on Miami.
There will be a lot of expectations if the next Need For Speed game is only available on next-generation consoles. However, EA is a very ambitious company, so all critical expectations may be met.
EA's most latest NFS game, Need for Speed: Heat, was released in 2019. The release was the most successful of the series games. The game was actually created by Ghost Games for EA before the NFS series was handed over to Criterion - who also created the latest Battlefield 2042 - in 2020. Furthermore, according to Laura Miele, EA's chief studio officer, Battlefield 2042 was to blame for the new NFS game's delay.
