Two NASA astronauts began their 10-day space mission at the beginning of June.
Everything was going smoothly for the astronauts, who were launched into space aboard Boeing's Starliner spacecraft. However, problems arose when it was time to return. A helium leak caused a malfunction in the Starliner spacecraft that was supposed to bring the astronauts back. As a result, their return to Earth was initially delayed by several weeks.
Although NASA attempted to resolve the issue, it was unsuccessful, and the decision was made for the Starliner to return empty to Earth.
The two astronauts took refuge on the International Space Station (ISS). The astronauts' return date was initially set for February 2025. However, for their return to Earth, another team must travel from Earth to the ISS, complete their work, and return first. Once again, the astronauts' return has been delayed.
After months of waiting, the two astronauts will spend an additional nine months in space, unless another delay occurs in March.
Although concerns about their health have increased, NASA assures that their health is in excellent condition and there is no reason for alarm. While waiting to return home, the astronauts are helping other crew members complete their tasks. Meanwhile, many events have taken place on Earth over the past six months. Fortunately, the astronauts are staying updated on these events, albeit from a distance.

Of course, there is an explanation. NASA confirmed that the Christmas hats seen in the latest photos were sent to the ISS in November with a SpaceX cargo mission. Last month, during Thanksgiving celebrations, one astronaut had mentioned, “We packed a lot of Thanksgiving-appropriate food.”
