Mega Storm to Hit Istanbul This Week!
As the summer heat continues to make its presence felt across the Marmara Region, a series of critical warnings have been issued for the megacity of Istanbul by the Governorship and meteorology experts. Meteorologist Orhan Şen, along with AKOM, have released a warning regarding a severe storm set to hit Istanbul.

Meteorology expert Orhan Şen shared the weather forecast for Istanbul with CNN Türk. He noted that the strong winds in Istanbul would persist, with storm speeds reaching up to 40-60 kilometers per hour.
Şen emphasized that the wind does not blow at a constant speed, but rather has a gusty and wavy structure. 'Even if it blows at a constant speed of 40 kilometers per hour, it can spike up to 60 kilometers per hour during gusts. These sudden accelerations are what cause the destructive impact,' he said.
Will the Temperature Rise?
Şen, who stated that no precipitation is expected across the country, said, “There is no rain in almost all of Anatolia, just like in Istanbul. Only in the Eastern Black Sea region does the rain continue intermittently. Apart from that, temperatures are quite high, especially in the Mediterranean and Southeast Anatolia regions. This is due to the heatwave coming from the Arabian Peninsula.”
A warning for Istanbul also came from AKOM.
AKOM has issued the following forecast for Istanbul:
'It is predicted that Istanbul will enjoy predominantly sunny skies throughout the week with no rain in sight. Due to the northerly winds (Poyraz), which are expected to intensify and blow intermittently at storm levels (40-60km/h), temperatures are anticipated to hover between 28-30°C until the start of the new week (Monday).'
