However, according to the famous actor's words, he had considerable doubts about taking on this role.
According to Independent, Matt Smith had hesitations about accepting both his roles in 'Doctor Who' and 'House of the Dragon.'
Speaking to The Guardian, Smith stated,
'I have doubts about whether 'House of the Dragon' will uphold the legacy of the original Game of Thrones. I had the same doubts when I accepted Doctor Who. My manager said, 'You're doing this job!' and I did, and my life changed. It was the most fantastic job I've ever done.'
So why did Matt Smith hesitate?
The renowned actor also shed light on this issue in the same interview. He explained, 'The best way to make an actor unhappy is to give them a job. Because then you start thinking a lot about yourself. You wonder, 'Will I enjoy this job?' I used to tell my dad that sometimes I didn't enjoy the jobs I took, and he would say, 'Damn it, son. It's a job. It doesn't always have to be fun. Keep doing it.''
