Lakers Defeat The Nuggets To Get First Win Of The Season
After a rough start to the season with five losses, the Los Angeles Lakers finally trounced the Denver Nuggets to earn their first win of the season.
LeBron James has scored a game-high with 26 points, while Anthony Davis had 23 points and 15 rebounds, bringing up the Lakers’ rear in order to secure the win in the bag. Russell Westbrook also played a role in the team’s win, in which he sparked the team’s morale by coming off the bench to contribute a total of 18 points, 8 assists, and 8 rebounds.
'We needed this one,” Davis said. “We needed this for our team, our spirits, our fans, our organization. We came out and showed what we’re capable of. It could be the start of a run for us.”
Since the Lakers started off the season with a 0-5 record, it mirrored the 2014-15 Lakers’ bad season start which is quite embarrassing.
“It feels good to get that monkey off our back,” Davis said. “Get a win in the win column and try to get this thing going.”
Both LeBron James and Anthony Davis were bringing up the rear for the team to end their 0-5 losing streak since they were both tired of it. Despite Nikola Jokic's 23 points and 14 assists, the Lakers overcame the Nuggets with a sudden power spike in the fourth quarter.
The current Lakers roster is actually quite formidable, with a solid defense and chemistry between the players, specifically the Lakers trio Davis, James, and Westbrook, who are solid defensive players but are also scoring machines when it comes to offense.
“When we play defense like that, we’re a tough team to beat,” Davis said. “But today we made shots.”
The Lakers and Nuggets previously matched up on Thursday, with the Nuggets winning, and the Lakers getting retaliation today.
