He Used Milk Cartons Like Bricks to Build a House Instead of Throwing Them Away
In Brazil, a retired construction worker built a remarkable house without resorting to traditional bricks. Driven by financial constraints to find an alternative solution, the craftsman assembled over 4,000 long-lasting milk cartons to construct a two-room structure. An engineer, intrigued by the idea of recycling, stated that with proper maintenance and preservation, the building could withstand up to a century.

However, this method is not seen as a straightforward solution that can be directly applied to every building. This is because milk cartons are not considered standalone structural materials. Details such as the foundation, roof, water insulation, plaster, plumbing, and the building's load-bearing system need to be professionally evaluated.
It is said that it can last up to 100 years.
One of the intriguing aspects that makes the house stand out is the evaluation of its durability. According to the information provided in the news, an engineer stated that with proper maintenance and preservation, the house could last up to a century.
This estimate is not solely based on the milk cartons, but also on how they are protected. Packaging materials should not be directly exposed to water, sunlight, or impact; safeguarding them with elements such as plaster, roofing, and insulation can prolong the lifespan of the structure.
Nevertheless, experts caution that such projects should be approached with care. Buildings constructed from recycled materials can be creative and economical, but they certainly require a technical assessment regarding safety, durability, and the risk of moisture.
