Emin Alper's journey began with his academic pursuits. After completing his high school education at Ankara Fen Lisesi, he initially entered Boğaziçi University's construction engineering department. Alper later pursued studies in economics and history at Boğaziçi University, eventually earning his doctorate in Modern Turkish History from the university's Atatürk Principles and Revolution History Institute.

In his own words, Alper expressed the influence of his background: 'Engineering did not contribute much because I am quite ignorant in technical matters. Social sciences certainly had an impact. I cannot measure it accurately now, but it definitely existed. Similarly, engaging with art and cinema has had a significant impact on social sciences; they developed in mutual interaction.'

Emin Alper's fascination with cinema was ignited when he watched Emir Kusturica's film 'Time of the Gypsies' at the age of 18. This experience marked the beginning of his journey into the world of filmmaking. While studying at Boğaziçi University, Alper engaged in screenplay experiments and joined the university's cinema club. He spent considerable time with his friends, who were both involved in the film industry and fellow enthusiasts. During this period, Alper wrote scripts, critiques, and notes, and he even co-founded the 'Görüntü' magazine with his friends. The club organized film discussions and invited emerging directors of the time, such as Zeki Demirkubuz and Nuri Bilge Ceylan, for interviews. It was during this period that Alper's longstanding dream of a career in filmmaking began to take shape.

Emin Alper's impact on Turkish cinema was solidified through his works. His debut short film 'Mektup' (Letter) was produced as part of the TRT program 'Genç Sinemacılar' (Young Filmmakers). However, it was his first feature film, 'Tepenin Ardı' (Beyond the Hill), which he had meticulously worked on, that brought him widespread recognition. The film garnered numerous awards, including the Caligari Film Award at the Berlin Film Festival, and won acclaim both nationally and internationally.

Alper's filmography continued to impress with 'Abluka,' which had its premiere at the 72nd Venice Film Festival. The movie was awarded the Jury Special Prize and other prestigious awards. Alper's 'Kız Kardeşler' (A Tale of Three Sisters) premiered at the 69th Berlin International Film Festival in the Main Competition category. The film received 11 nominations from SİYAD (Cinema Writers Association) and showcased his storytelling finesse.

In addition to his filmmaking accomplishments, Alper directed the TV series 'Alef,' a collaboration between FX and BluTV.
