A company-wide email has sparked controversy. According to the decision, any employee who uses their phone during working hours will face a salary deduction.
The company has stated that for an employee with a salary of 50,000 TL, a deduction of 500 TL will be made from their salary for every 10 minutes spent on the phone.
If an employee spends a total of 30 minutes on the phone during the day, this will result in a clear penalty of 1500 TL on their salary. Based on the calculations made, each minute spent on the phone will effectively be penalized at a rate of 50 TL.
An employee may not comply with a rule that is not stated in the contract.
This harsh sanction has divided the citizens into two. While some citizens supported the decision, arguing that it's not appropriate to deal with non-work-related matters during working hours, others found the application inhumane and drew attention to the economic conditions.
An expert weighed in on the debates. Lawyer Narman Feyzioğlu stated, 'If there's such a thing in the contract, it can be done. The worker may not comply with this rule for things not included in the contract, they can terminate it.'
