Climber Efe Gurbuz Shares Step-by-Step Journey of His Mount Ararat Ascent

Mount Ararat, the highest point in Turkey, is known among mountaineers as both a grand target and one of the most physically challenging routes, with its peak standing at 5,137 meters. Usually, reaching the summit requires a two-day camping program and substantial climbing experience.

Content creator Efe Gürbüz vividly documented this challenging route step by step. He shared all the details of the climb, which started from the camp at 3,200 meters. At the summit, where dense fog and sunshine appeared simultaneously, Gürbüz unfurled his flag, virtually sharing the experience with his viewers through his video.

One of the most critical stages of climbing Mount Ararat is the process of acclimatization, which is adapting to high altitude. The climb is carried out gradually to allow the human body to adjust to the low pressure and oxygen levels. The team first spends a night at the 3200-meter camp, then ascends to the 4200-meter camp and stays there for another night. Once the body has adapted to the high altitude, the summit hike begins around 02:00 in the light of headlamps and in freezing cold. One of the most striking visuals of the climb is the shadow of Mount Ararat falling onto the clouds as the sun rises.

As the climbers reach approximately 5000 meters, the snow layer thickens and they continue their challenging progress on the ice with crampons. The final 100-meter climb to the summit is completed after about six hours of intense effort, and the team reaches the peak of Mount Ararat, which is 5137 meters high. Even though the weather conditions at the summit are stormy, the joy of the team is evident on their faces.
