Ata Demirer Reveals How His New Film Pervaneler Came Together
Ata Demirer says the story of his new film Pervaneler took three to four years to take shape. Speaking to journalists on the set in Ayvalik, Demirer explained that it all began with a character, one who lived among the team for years before a story was built around him. The film, directed by Hakan Algul, is due in cinemas on January 8, 2027.
Ata Demirer says Pervaneler grew out of a character the team had been joking about for years.
Demirer wrote the screenplay and stars in Pervaneler, and filming began on September 28. The team welcomed the press on set in Ayvalik, where Demirer shared how the idea was born.
It was not a story that came first. As Demirer put it: 'First a character is born, and for a few years he keeps us entertained among ourselves.' The plot was woven around that character later. Demirer announced on social media in July, on his birthday, that he had finished the screenplay.
The whole story takes place in Ayvalik, and it will be Demirer's ninth feature film.
Director Hakan Algul confirmed that the entire story of Pervaneler is set in Ayvalik. Demirer was known to have worked on the script in Bozcaada, but the cameras are now rolling in Ayvalik.
Pervaneler will be Demirer's ninth film and the eighth he has made with Algul. Their previous seven films together reached 14,647,050 viewers in Turkey, a partnership that began with Eyyvah Eyvah.
