A Turkish Local in Switzerland Shared Nuclear Shelters Built Against Potential Attacks
As you may well be aware, the tension between America, Israel, and Iran is escalating day by day. The possibility of a nuclear attack came to mind following a threat made by Donald Trump to Iran just the other day. Switzerland is known to be one of the few countries in the world that possesses the capacity to shelter its entire population (even more than 100% of its population) in the event of a nuclear attack or disaster.
A content creator by the name of 'isvicredebiz' shared a video showcasing the shelters in the country. While the footage garnered much appreciation, it also induced a slight unease among those suffering from claustrophobia.
You can watch it from here;
Let's delve into some information about Switzerland's shelters together;

Legal Obligation: Since 1963, Switzerland has imposed a requirement for every home or building to have a shelter, or for building owners to pay for a spot in public shelters.
Capacity: Across the country, there are approximately 360,000 shelters (both private and public), which can accommodate nearly 9 million people. This infrastructure essentially covers the entire population of the country.
Hidden Structures in the Alps: As shown in the video, deep within the Alps, there are old military shelters, tunnels, and even underground hospitals. While some of these are open to tourists today, many remain active components of the defense strategy.
Current Situation: Although this rule has been somewhat relaxed since the end of the Cold War, there is still an expectation for buildings to be constructed with shelters or for existing ones to be maintained.
