10 Horror Films To Watch On Halloween Night If You Dare
Halloween is celebrated on October 31, and for horror fans the classic plan is still a movie night at home. From John Carpenter's 1978 Halloween to Art the Clown's bloody Terrifier, many of the films on this list take place on Halloween night. Some made Jamie Lee Curtis a star, and one is said to have made audiences faint in theaters. Here are 10 horror films to watch tonight.

The Exorcist (1973)
Chris MacNeil, a famous actress living in Washington, notices unexplained changes in the behavior of her 12-year-old daughter Regan. When doctors can find no explanation, she turns to a young priest, Karras, who is questioning his faith. Together with the experienced Father Merrin, he takes on the entity that has taken hold of Regan.
Halloween (1978)
In the small town of Haddonfield, Illinois, Michael Myers, who killed his sister at the age of six, escapes the asylum where he was held for 15 years. On Halloween eve he returns home, and high schooler Laurie Strode, who is babysitting, and her friends are in his sights. His doctor, Loomis, believes he is not human but pure evil.
The Shining (1980)
Aspiring writer Jack Torrance takes a winter caretaker job at the remote Overlook Hotel with his wife Wendy and son Danny. When a snowstorm cuts them off from the world, Jack falls under the influence of the hotel's dark past, while young Danny, who has supernatural abilities, begins to see the horror that happened there.
Night of the Demons (1988)
A group of teenagers decides to throw a Halloween party in an abandoned funeral home said to be cursed. A séance they hold for fun awakens evil forces, and one by one the teens begin to be possessed.
Trick 'r Treat (2007)
Four stories on the same Halloween night in a small Ohio town become intertwined. The sack-masked Sam is the figure linking them all, punishing anyone who does not respect the night's traditions.
The second half moves from Sinister to Haunt, with Terrifier 2 reportedly making viewers faint.
Sinister (2012)
True-crime writer Ellison Oswalt moves his family into the very house where another family was hanged in the yard. In a box in the attic he finds old home videos showing how different families were killed over the years. When he notices the same mysterious figure in each of them, he realizes his own family is in danger.
The Conjuring (2013)
In 1971, the Perron family moves into an old farmhouse in Rhode Island with their five daughters. When unexplained events begin, they turn to paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, who discover a dark presence threatening the family.
Terrifier (2016)
After a Halloween party, two young women, Tara and Dawn, meet a strange clown at a pizzeria late at night. Art the Clown, who never speaks and communicates only through expressions, sets his sights on them. The sequel, Terrifier 2 (2022), made headlines when viewers were reported to have fainted in theaters.
Hereditary (2018)
After the death of her secretive mother Ellen, Annie Graham's family begins to experience strange events. As she digs into her mother's past, Annie faces terrifying truths about a dark legacy passed down through generations.
Haunt (2019)
On Halloween night, a group of college students finds an 'extreme' haunted house outside town. They leave their phones at the entrance, and at first it looks like harmless fun. Soon they realize the masked staff are not playing, and getting out will not be easy.
