Turkish Wedding Feast Features Cash Carried in Suitcases
At a wedding held in the Çaldıran district of Van, the groom was gifted 20 million TL, while the bride received kilos of gold. Thousands of guests attended the wedding where a machine was brought in to count the money. The money, counted for minutes on end, was packed into suitcases for transport.

A record was seemingly shattered at the wedding of Serhat Avcı, son of businessman Nihat Avcı who is a member of the Şeğki (Şeyhanlı) tribe, and Esra Yıldırım, daughter of former Çaldıran Municipality Mayor Ferman Yıldırım, in the Çaldıran district of Van. Money and gold were flying in the air at the wedding.
The groom received approximately 20 million TL in cash, while the bride was adorned with kilograms of gold. Money counting machines were set up at the wedding venue, and the money that was counted for minutes by the hosts was packed into suitcases for transportation.
