Turkey Heatwave: Temperatures to Exceed 40°C
Across Turkey, the scorching summer heat is progressively intensifying. According to the latest weather reports released by the General Directorate of Meteorology, a sunny and extremely hot wave of weather will dominate nationwide. Particularly, with the merging of two separate hot air masses coming from North Africa and the Persian Gulf, temperature values will exceed the seasonal norms in every corner of Turkey.
The heat is on: Thermometers are set to surpass 40 degrees.
The Meteorology Department has released the weather forecast. According to their report, the temperature is set to rise 2 to 4 degrees above the seasonal norms in the western and southern regions, and 1 to 3 degrees in the central areas. Meanwhile, in the eastern parts of the country, a short-term increase of 2 to 4 degrees is expected. As the heatwave reaches its peak, it's noted that thermometers in many cities will be pushing the 40-degree limit, and in some places, even surpassing it.
A warning for Istanbul has been issued by AKOM.
The following statement was shared on the official X account of AKOM:
'Istanbul, along with the majority of our country, continues to be under the influence of both African and Basra-originated heatwaves. The system, which is expected to remain effective in our region until the start of the new week (Monday), is not anticipated to bring any rain. Instead, a predominantly sunny sky is predicted, with temperatures ranging between 31 and 34 degrees.'
