The guitar known as "Black Strat," used by David Gilmour, the guitarist of Pink Floyd, has become the most expensive guitar in the world.

David Gilmour's famed guitar, used in six Pink Floyd albums, has found a buyer for a staggering 14.6 million dollars, making it the most expensive guitar ever sold to date.
According to the BBC, Gilmour had used the 1969 Fender Stratocaster, nicknamed 'Black Strat', in all of the British rock group's albums, including The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, and The Wall, between 1970 and 1983. The guitar was sold to an unnamed buyer on Thursday, following a 21-minute bidding process at a rock memorabilia auction in New York.
Information available on Christie's website had projected that the guitar would find a buyer for a price between 2 and 4 million dollars. The previous record holder was the retro acoustic-electric 1959 Martin D18E, played by Kurt Cobain during Nirvana's legendary MTV Unplugged performance in 1993. This iconic guitar was sold for 6 million dollars in 2020.
