From Himalayan salt to sea salt, rock salt to classic table salt, each variety has its own unique tale to tell.

Himalayan salt, with its pink hue derived from the iron oxide it contains and its claim of housing 84 different minerals, has been marketed as a 'health elixir' for years. Sea salt, on the other hand, carries a more natural image due to its production process, which involves evaporating sea water. Rock salt stands out with its unprocessed structure, extracted from millions of years old underground deposits.

Table salt, although it generally contains anti-caking agents, is distinguished by the vital iodine supplement it carries for public health. However, the truth of the matter is that these salts are still composed of 97% to 99% sodium chloride, and considering the daily consumption amounts, the mineral difference between them is negligible.

In reality, there is no such thing as a 'miraculous' type of salt when it comes to health. However, the most recommended option by experts is unrefined, additive-free iodized rock salt or Himalayan salt.

Unprocessed rock salt takes the lead over sea salt due to its absence of microplastic and heavy metal pollution. Natural Himalayan salt can also be a preferable choice as it contains more minerals and less sodium.

Nevertheless, the healthiest salt is the one you consume the least.

Regardless of the type you choose, it is crucial not to exceed the World Health Organization's daily limit of 6 grams (approximately one teaspoon). Overconsumption of sodium can lead to high blood pressure, heart diseases, and kidney problems. In summary, the best approach is not to choose salt based on its color or price, but to consume it by controlling the amount and keeping an eye on the iodine balance.
