The Dutton Legacy Continues as Paramount+ Renews ‘1923’ for A Second Season

It’s all merry in the Dutton family after Paramount+ renewed 1923 for its second season a month after the launch of season one. 

1923 is a Western drama show, serving as a sequel and prequel to other Paramount+ TV series, 1883 and Yellowstone, respectively.

The series was revealed in February last year, acquiring its ‘1923’ title in June. 1923’s first season managed a whopping 8.6/10 stars on IMDb, an 89% average Tomatometer (reinforced by a 75% average audience score) on Rotten Tomatoes, and 3.5/5 stars on TV Guide. 

Since debuting on December 18 2022, 1923 became the most-watched TV series on Paramount+ across the US, with close to 7.5 million viewers. 

On Friday, February 3, Paramount+ announced that 1923 would return for its second streamer season.

Set in the 20th century, 1923 tells the history of the Dutton family when disasters, drought, and World War I attack their home. With a new generation and leaders, the Duttons travel to Montana through Oregon, tackling many life misfortunes. 

The renewal news was received by millions of fans and concerned platforms eagerly waiting for more action from the Yellowstone community.

Although not much information about the production crew has been offered, Taylor Sheridan, the series creator, will likely resume his chief producing role. Other chief producers are Ben Richardson, John Linson, Bob Yari, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, and David C. Glasser. 

1923 is a co-accomplishment of MTV Entertainment Studios, Linson Entertainment, 101 Studios, and Bosque Ranch Productions. 

The series hasn’t seen any changes in the cast list, so fans can expect to witness the talents of Harrison Ford (Jacob Dutton), Helen Mirren (Cara Dutton), Darren Mann (Jack Dutton), Sebastian Roché (Father Renaud), James B. Dale (John Dutton Snr.), and Marley Shelton (Emma Dutton).

Paramount+ hasn’t announced the release date for 1923’s second season. 

In the meantime, fans can enjoy episode five of 1923 season one, which dropped yesterday, as they wait for the 6th installment on February 12.
