Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD recently unveiled its sedan model, the BYD Seal 08. The new model, it was noted, is specifically designed to tackle the common concerns of electric vehicle users, namely 'range anxiety' and 'charging time'. The vehicle managed to garner attention with its features addressing these issues.
Capable of achieving a full charge in just 9 minutes, the BYD Seal 08 can travel over 1,000 kilometers on a single charge, thanks to its second-generation battery technology. The vehicle is equipped with a second-generation Blade Battery (LFP) system with an 800V architecture, and the company's newly developed Flash charging technology with a capacity of 1,500 kWh. Consequently, it's reported that a mere 5-minute charge is sufficient for a range of approximately 400 kilometers.
The charging time for electric vehicles is gradually closing in on the traditional fuel refilling duration.
The battery's charge level soars from 10% to 97% in just 9 minutes. This indicates that the charging duration for electric vehicles is gradually inching closer to the conventional fuel filling time.
BYD is also experimenting with a new aesthetic look for its sedan model. The closed grille design used in the front and the wave-shaped headlight details are among the elements emphasizing the vehicle's ocean theme.
So, how much will BYD's new model cost?
The price details for BYD's new model have not been disclosed yet. The new model is set to be launched worldwide in the second quarter of 2026.
