In the district of Reyhanlı, Hatay, 70-year-old İsmail Bozdağ was assaulted by his neighbor. Despite asserting that there was no animosity between them, Bozdağ suffered a severe injury when his neighbor bit and severed his finger.
His neighbor bit off his finger!
An inconceivable incident between neighbors in Hatay, Turkey, left everyone who heard about it in utter shock. A senior man, who had no prior disputes with his neighbor, had his finger bitten off by the very same person. He recounted the horror he experienced and the aftermath of the event. On April 7, in the Cüneyde neighborhood of the Reyhanli district in Hatay, 70-year-old Ismail Bozdağ, like any other day, got off the bus and took the apartment elevator to get to his home. Accompanying him was his 47-year-old neighbor, A.E., whom he had known for years and with whom he had no disagreements.
For reasons yet to be determined, A.E. attacked the elderly man as soon as the elevator started moving. During the ensuing struggle, A.E. bit off and severed the little finger of Bozdağ's right hand.
"We had no quarrel. But once he bit my hand, he didn't let go until he nearly ripped my finger off."
Bozdağ, who stated that there was no animosity between him and his neighbor, had his finger amputated after the stitches failed to hold.
Bozdağ recounted his ordeal as follows:
'My neighbor and I were returning from the market on the same bus. I got off the bus first, and A.E. followed me. We both got into the same elevator in the apartment building. When the elevator reached his floor, the door opened, but he didn't get out. When he didn't, I asked, 'Why didn't you get off?' He responded with 'None of your business,' and then punched me, which led to a fight in the elevator. During the scuffle, he bit my hand.
He didn't let go of my finger until he bit it off. When I started screaming, he finally released my hand. My finger was severed. I then called for help from my neighbor, Ali. When Ali arrived, he separated us. They took me to the hospital, where they stitched up my finger. Unfortunately, the stitches didn't hold, and my finger became gangrenous. Consequently, they had to amputate my finger. We had no issues with each other before this. I was fond of him, and he was fond of me. I still can't comprehend why he did what he did.'
