No More Scrubbing: This One Household Item Will Make Stained Toilets Look Brand New
Even though vinegar and baking soda have been among the most popular methods for home cleaning for years, experts suggest a much more effective solution, particularly for stubborn yellow stains in the toilet. According to cleaning experts, citric acid can dissolve lime and mineral deposits in a short time, making the toilet sparkling white again.
Expert Rivera points out that intense yellow stains cannot always be removed with vinegar alone, recommending the use of citric acid instead. In Rivera's view, citric acid demonstrates a faster and stronger effect when it comes to breaking down mineral deposits.
How to Clean a Toilet with Citric Acid?
In the method recommended by experts, the first step involves putting on rubber gloves. Then, 34 tablespoons of citric acid powder are thoroughly dissolved in warm water.
Subsequently, the toilet is flushed to lower the water level inside the bowl. The prepared mixture is applied to the entire inner surface of the toilet, including the underside of the rim. The remaining solution is then poured into the ring formed by the water level.
It is recommended to let the mixture sit for a period ranging from 1 to 2 hours.
During this period, citric acid begins to dissolve calcium and lime deposits without damaging the porcelain.
Following the waiting period, the surface is cleaned with broad circular movements using a toilet brush, and finally, the rinsing process is completed by flushing. Experts indicate that for very old and thick stains, the process can be repeated or the mixture can be left overnight.
According to cleaning experts, this simple method stands out as one of the most effective and practical ways to remove yellow stains from toilets.
