Ministry Crackdown: Six Visa Agencies Banned for False Guarantee Claims
The visa processes, which have recently become a major hassle for citizens wanting to travel abroad, have paved the way for opportunists. Intermediary firms, emerging with promises of 'guaranteed approval' or 'visa assurance' through websites and social media platforms, have come under the radar of the Ministry of Trade. The Advertising Board of the Ministry of Trade has taken a precautionary suspension decision regarding the advertisements of six visa intermediary firms that could potentially mislead consumers.
Visa intermediary companies have caught the attention of the Ministry.
The ordeal of citizens over visa applications has caught the attention of the Ministry of Trade. The Advertising Board, operating under the Ministry, made a swift move against six visa intermediary firms that blatantly deceive consumers with promises that do not reflect the truth. A provisional suspension was imposed on the advertisements of these firms, which seek to monetize the grievances of citizens.
Complaints about certain firms, which target citizens struggling to get visa appointments, making manipulative and deceptive posts on digital platforms, spurred Ankara into action. According to an official statement from the Ministry of Trade, the Advertising Board initiated an ex officio investigation by closely monitoring these platforms operating under the guise of visa appointment services. As part of the investigation, promotional contents and advertisements that particularly appear at the top of search engines were scrutinized one by one.
"Visa guarantee", "100% visa approval rate"...
One of the main agenda items of the Advertising Board meeting numbered 370, held on June 11, 2026, was these visa brokers who ensnare citizens. In the advertising files of 6 different companies discussed, numerous phrases directly aimed at deceiving the consumer were detected. According to the board's investigation report, the slogans that constitute a criminal element and exploit the desperation of citizens are as follows:
'Visa appointment guarantee' and '100% approval guarantee'
'Fast application and result guarantee'
'Uninterrupted support and guaranteed solution'
Authorities underscored that no intermediary agency can offer a visa guarantee on behalf of consulates, emphasizing that such statements are direct traps aimed at misleading the consumer.
Banned for three months: Severe penalties are up next.
Following the initial assessments, the Advertising Board has imposed a provisional suspension penalty of up to three months on six companies that aired the deceptive advertisements. However, this is merely the first step. The Ministry signaled that as the investigation deepens and the cases are finalized, the companies could face far more severe administrative fines. The Ministry of Commerce emphasized that in order to prevent citizens from suffering, inspections against unfair trade practices and misleading advertisements will continue relentlessly and without compromise.
