The sight of new housing projects built as part of urban transformation efforts in the Avcılar district of Istanbul left people in shock. The buildings rising right next to the Ambarlı Cemetery led observers to comment, 'Apartments right on the graveyard.' As the distance between the buildings and the cemetery ground shrunk to zero, citizens expressed their astonishment by saying, 'I'm in shock.'

The proximity between the buildings constructed under urban transformation in Avcılar, Istanbul, and the cemetery has left observers in astonishment. It appears that the building has been erected almost adjacent to the graveyard, with the windows and balconies of the newly built apartments directly overlooking the cemetery.
Aerial footage reveals a nearly intertwined image of the new buildings and the cemetery, a result of urban transformation. It is striking to see that tombstones can be directly viewed from the window openings of the building's floors, with some apartments revealing facades facing the cemetery. Only a few meters separate the tombstones from the outer wall of the construction.
"I was flabbergasted when I saw it. A building that leaves one dumbfounded."
A citizen named Bekir Şen expressed his dissatisfaction, stating, 'They're not selling apartments, they're actually selling graveyards.'
Şen continued his remarks as follows:
'Thanks to our contractors in Avcılar, they say they are selling apartments. In reality, they are selling graveyards to people. Can there be such a structure? It's a building that leaves one dumbfounded. I was shocked when I first saw it. The building is literally on top of a graveyard. The lower floors of the building are under the graveyard. This is just unbelievable. I can't comprehend how they are allowing construction permits for these. One day, I came to visit a relative at the Ambarlı cemetery. And what do I see? Buildings have reached the graveyard at ground zero. The entrance floors are under the graveyard. A person could literally jump from the balcony directly into the graveyard.'
