Hülya Duyar, in discussing the preparations for the character of Hürrem Sultan in the series 'Magnificent Century,' also shared the perspective of scriptwriter Meral Okay on the character. 'Meral Okay wanted the character of Hürrem to have no visual representation,' she said, explaining the approach taken at the time. She then moved on to her story of meeting Meryem Uzerli. 'When I first met Meryem, she was only 17 and dating a director friend of mine. We met up in Berlin after Meryem had been through a burnout, and now we catch up over the phone from time to time,' she said, reflecting on their friendship that spans many years.
On the show, Duyar also touched upon Hande Erçel's acting journey, recounting how Erçel was recommended to her. 'I was talking to Recep Güneysu and asked him if there was a beautiful girl in his circle, maybe a girlfriend, for a project, and he suggested his relative, Hande Erçel,' she said. Later, sharing her thoughts about Hande Erçel, Duyar said, 'Sometimes, it seems to me that Hande Erçel is unfairly treated. When I first met her, she was not only beautiful but incredibly hardworking, passionate, smart, and she was young.'
Hülya Duyar also spoke about Demet Özdemir, stating that she was the one who first invited the actress to audition for a leading role. Despite the director deciding to proceed with another actress for that project, Duyar expressed her trust in Demet Özdemir from the very beginning. 'I called Demet Özdemir for the main cast for the first time, but I couldn't make it happen because the director decided on another actress. However, Demet was the one I invited for the lead role just by looking at a single photo,' she said.
