Working late into the night, responding to messages tardily, and the growing distance between them was gnawing at Amy from the inside. Living with a nagging sense of 'something's going on, but what?', the young woman, as a last resort, turned to the 'Catch Them If You Can' program on The Fox radio in Australia.
A private detective was hired as part of the program.
PI Dave started tailing Amy's boyfriend. At first glance, everything seemed ordinary. That was until it was discovered that the boyfriend was regularly visiting an Airbnb property owned by his family, and for which Amy managed the bookings. Upon examining the account, the detective noticed reservations made every two weeks for just one night, each under a different name. Red flags started piling up one after another.
On one of the evenings under surveillance, Amy's boyfriend left the office and went straight to that house.
He deliberately parked his car on the street, entering through the side door. About half an hour later, a red car pulled up. A woman, roughly the same age as Amy, got out and swiftly entered the house through the same door. The night was still, void of any activity until 1:30 in the morning.
The pair emerged from the house together. The detective's photo clearly showed the man escorting the woman to his car, his arm wrapped around her waist. Thus, this was not a case of an 'innocent meeting' by any means.
When the photograph was shown to Amy, it was as if time stood still in the studio.
The young woman was overwhelmed by tears, forced to take a break from the broadcast. When she returned to the show the next day, she dropped the real bombshell. The woman in the photograph was her closest friend, someone who had been in her life since high school and with whom she had shared every secret.
Amy confessed that she still hadn't been able to confront either her boyfriend or her friend.
