HBO announced on October 27 that three new names have joined the first season. The role of Harry's father, James Potter, goes to Jasper Talbot, known from Broadchurch. Harry's mother, Lily Potter, will be played by Hannah Chinn, who drew attention in The Conjuring: Last Rites.
Charlie Weasley makes his screen debut
The most eye-catching name in the new cast is Charlie Weasley. Ron's older brother will be played by Harry Gilby, known from The Last Kingdom. In the books, Charlie works with dragons in Romania after graduating from Hogwarts, but the film series barely featured him; the character appeared only in a family photograph.
In the films, Harry's parents appeared only in brief flashbacks and photographs.
In the story, James and Lily are killed by Lord Voldemort when Harry is still a baby. That is why the two enter Harry's life in every part of the series only through memories, photographs and flashbacks. In the films, they were played by Adrian Rawlins and Geraldine Somerville.
What else is known about the series

John Lithgow plays Albus Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu plays Severus Snape, Janet McTeer plays Minerva McGonagall and Nick Frost plays Hagrid.
Francesca Gardiner wrote and produces the series, and Mark Mylod, known from Succession, directs many of the episodes. HBO has already renewed the show for a second season based on Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, which is filming at Leavesden Studios near London. Kit Harington, known as Jon Snow in Game of Thrones, will appear in season two as Gilderoy Lockhart.
