In the latest report published by the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK), it was stated that despite Germany being one of the safest countries in the world, there could still be crises or disasters that disrupt daily routines.
The report indicated that extreme weather events, cyber attacks, disinformation, and sabotage could pose threats to infrastructure, public opinion, and societal harmony. It was also noted that the possibility of war does not seem as improbable as it did just a few years ago.
In the said 'Preparation for Crises and Disasters' report, it was recommended that every household in the country should keep an emergency supply of food and other necessities that would last between 3 to 10 days for precautionary purposes.
In a brochure prepared by the BBK, which was also supported by illustrations, a list of water, food, medical care, and hygiene supplies that people should keep in their homes to take care of themselves until help arrives during crises and disaster situations was provided. The brochure also explained what needs to be done when daily life is interrupted.
