An Interesting Cafe Where You Can Sip Coffee on the Edge of a Cliff!

The culture of coffee is no longer merely about techniques. Boundaries are being pushed a little further every day for the sake of social media. The Gushi Cliff Cafe, located in China's Fujian province, stands at the very heart of this trend. The idea of sipping coffee at a height of 70 meters, with your feet swinging against the sea, may sound insane. However, videos garnering millions of views prove that there's quite a demand for this experience.

The Gushi Cliff Cafe, situated on a platform anchored to the coastal cliffs near Fuzhou, offers a unique dining experience. Customers find themselves seated on a bench approximately 70 meters high. However, reaching this lofty location is not as simple as sliding into a chair and requesting a menu. One must navigate a via ferrata course using metal rungs, secure themselves with safety ropes, and proceed under the guidance of an instructor. Reservations are mandatory, as unguided descents are simply not an option.

Upon payment of 398 yuan, roughly equivalent to 56 dollars, the package includes safety equipment, insurance, guide services, and a photo shoot. One visitor, Ye Kunkun, told CNN that he was initially frightened when he first saw the cliff, but felt more at ease once the guide started leading the way. Upon reaching the platform, coffee prepared in advance and kept in a thermos is served. Then, the real ritual begins. Legs swing out into the void, the camera starts rolling, and the pictures are taken.

In reality, it's not coffee being sold, but adrenaline.

The owner of the venue, Xue Ke, emphasizes that the package offers a unique draw for thrill seekers. The location was specifically chosen for its breathtaking view of the Taiwan Strait. Even the lights of the Matsu Islands on the opposite shore can be seen in the open air. The view is powerful, the experience is striking. However, the price is a point of contention.

Online reviews are split down the middle. There are those who say, 'Even if they paid me, I wouldn't go,' and others who commend the bravery it takes. Ye Kunkun has expressed that he found the experience expensive and felt that it didn't fully meet his expectations in terms of content.

On the other hand, the owner argues that one's state of mind cannot be measured with 398 yuan. The truth of the matter is, no one is rappelling down a cliff face to search for notes of chocolate in their wine. People are after unique snapshots, social media stories, and extraordinary experiences to share.
