Ilıcalı, who emphasized that he has been gradually building his presence in English football, underlined that he has been moving with realistic goals since the day he took office.
Ilıcalı, who stressed that he promised the fans a gradual success when he took over the club, reminded that their initial goal was to finish the league within the top 10, and in their second season, they missed the playoff fight by just 3 points.

'First and foremost, I wanted to progress step by step. Upon my arrival at the club, I communicated this to our fans. My initial goal was to break into the top 10. In fact, in my second year, we missed the playoffs by a mere three points. Subsequently, we set our sights on making the playoffs. We achieved this and then ascended to the Premier League.
Now, my sole objective for this season is to ensure our team maintains its position in the Premier League. If we manage to stay in the league this season, I aim to establish a long-term brand subsequently. There are a few teams, such as Brentford and Brighton, whose approach to football I greatly admire. I particularly find the sporting director of Brentford to be quite successful. I believe these teams have managed to become enduring brands in the Premier League for many years, thanks to their management philosophies and perspectives on football.'
