4 Nations Move to Cancel Fraudulent Visa Slots
Following the operation against black market gangs that have locked visa applications and victimized millions of citizens, the question 'Will there be changes in visa appointments?' has come to the fore. Allegedly, thousands of appointments obtained through irregular means could be cancelled, and four countries may take new steps to shorten appointment times.
The visa gang had managed to profit over 900 million TL from approximately 41,000 individuals.
Amidst the ongoing visa crisis, appointments have fallen into the hands of the black market. An operation was conducted against a gang operating under the guise of visa consulting, who were accessing appointment systems through fraudulent bot software and illicitly charging citizens exorbitant fees. In this operation conducted across six provinces, 49 suspects were taken into custody.
It was revealed that the gang had profited over 900 million TL from approximately 41,000 individuals.
Thousands of appointments can be cancelled one by one.
The button has been pressed to cancel thousands of appointments accumulated through irregular methods. Particularly, the 4 to 6-month waiting periods for appointments that Turkish citizens planning to travel to Europe during the summer months have been facing, are on the verge of ending with the removal of irregular transactions from the system. According to the news by Güzder Berk Topuzoğlu from Sözcü, embassies and consulates are preparing to officially cancel all appointment records that were booked through bot accounts and irregular methods starting from next week. The aim is to directly open the vacant quotas to the real applicants through the system.

It has been suggested that Italy, Spain, Germany, and France, the countries most affected by the process and notable for their high application volume, are focusing on updating their application calendars following the cancellation of appointments. Allegedly, these countries are planning to gradually reduce the appointment waiting times, which previously reached up to six months, to around one month. The completion of the new system updates and the opening of the new calendars for application are expected in the coming days.
