25 Great Movies That Were Released 10 Years Ago This Year!
It feels like only yesterday we admired Johnny Depp in Sweeney Todd, or flocked to the theaters to see the latest Harry Potter movie The Order of the Phoenix! Well, these were 10 years ago and yes you’re aging. But there’s no harm in remembering your youthful years with your favorite movies. Here’s some nostalgia!
1. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
Fun fact: The film still holds the record as the most expensive ever made. But the gamble paid off: It was the biggest movie of the year and grossed almost a billion dollars worldwide.
2. Spider-Man 3
Fun fact: The film's writer-director, Sam Raimi, was very unhappy with how it turned out and was planning on making a fourth Spider-Man film to make up for it — in which Anne Hathaway would've played Felicia Hardy/Black Cat. He ended up having to abandon the project because he couldn't get the script together in time.
3. The Simpsons Movie
Fun fact: The film was a LONG TIME in the making! In fact, 158 drafts of the script were written.
4. Shrek the Third
Fun fact: The movie held the record for the highest-grossing opening weekend for an animated film until this year when Finding Dory beat it.

Fun fact: Dug from Up is hidden as an Easter egg in the film.
6. Transformers
Fun fact: Hugo Weaving, who is best known for his roles in the Matrix and Lord of the Rings films, was the voice of Megatron.

Fun fact: John Waters actually wrote a screenplay for a sequel to the film, titled Hairspray 2: White Lipstick. In the movie, Zac Efron's character would've taken acid, while John Travolta's character, Edna, would've lost a ton of weight and gotten addicted to diet pills. The movie eventually fell out of production.

Fun fact: The three main characters — Peter, Francis, and Jack — were named after real-life famous men: Peter Bogdanovich, Francis Ford Coppola, and Jack Nicholson.
15. Why Did I Get Married?
Fun fact: Tracee Ross was actually considered early on for a role in the film.
16. There Will Be Blood
Fun fact: Paul Dano was originally cast only in the role of Paul Sunday, but was asked to replace the actor who played Eli Sunday, Kel O'Neill. When Dano took on both roles the characters were changed to be identical twins.
17. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Fun fact: Sam Mendes was originally hired to direct the film, with Hugh Jackman rumored to be in the running for the title character.

Fun fact: The movie was Ben Affleck's feature-length directorial debut.
19. Meet the Robinsons
Fun fact: A sequel was planned for the movie, titled Meet the Robinsons 2: First Date, but after John Lasseter took over as chief creative officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios, he canceled all planned direct-to-video sequels.

Fun fact: Heath Ledger turned down the role of Moss, and it eventually went to Josh Brolin.
21. Disturbia
Fact: The movie is a loose adaption of Alfred Hitchcock's classic Rear View Window, which was based on Cornell Woolrich's short story 'It Had to Be Murder.' Woolrich's estate tried to sue DreamWorks (which produced Disturbia) for copyright infringement. The lawsuit was eventually thrown out.
22. The Bourne Ultimatum
Fun fact: Producers never intended for there to be a third Bourne film (which this one was), but after the huge success of the previous film, The Bourne Supremacy, they decided to create another sequel.
23. Superbad
Fun fact: Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who co-wrote the film, actually began writing it when they were still in high school.
24. Enchanted
Fun fact: Reportedly the reason that Giselle is NOT an official Disney Princess is because of the difficulty of securing lifetime rights to Amy Adams' image.

Fun fact: The first cut of the film was more than three hours long.
