White House Unveils 250th Anniversary Surprise With Trump Featured in New US Passports
As the USA gears up to celebrate a quarter of a millennium of independence, a surprise move has emerged from the White House. In the context of the 250th anniversary celebrations, special design passports featuring a portrait of President Donald Trump will be issued.
Passports featuring Trump's portrait will be issued.
According to information confirmed by the White House, this initiative, set to be implemented in July, carries the nature of a 'commemorative passport' that will be produced in limited quantities. In the drafts shared by the U.S. Department of State, the inside cover of the passport prominently features a portrait of Trump. The image is adorned with the text of the Declaration of Independence and motifs of the American flag, while the president's signature in gold ink immediately catches the eye underneath.
It will be distributed exclusively in Washington.
Although applications for this special edition are open to all U.S. citizens, there's only one way to procure the passport: through the Washington Passport Agency. These passports, physically distributed solely in the capital, Washington, will remain valid for a decade. This means that even after Trump's term ends, this unique design will continue to circulate globally as an official document.
The so-called 'commemorative passport' has also stirred reactions. Many argue that the government's institutional neutrality is being compromised and that personalizing official symbols sets a risky precedent.
