One of the major issues in the Stuttgart 21 project has surfaced in the cabling laid for the digital railway infrastructure. It is reported that over 1,000 kilometers of cable and cable ducts were installed in incorrect locations, necessitating a significant portion of them to be replaced or rearranged.
The problem is said to be particularly concentrated in the section between StuttgartBad Cannstatt and Waiblingen. In an attempt to adhere to the project schedule, some cables were laid before the technical planning was completed, which subsequently turned into a major mistake. In other words, the hasty moves made to advance the project have now led to a problem that could potentially set back the work by years.
The launch date has been postponed once again.
The long-anticipated opening date of Stuttgart 21 has been repeatedly postponed. Initially, the new station was slated to commence operations in 2019 when the project was first launched. However, due to escalating costs, technical issues, and construction mishaps, this date has been consistently pushed back.
According to the latest information, the project may not be fully operational until the end of 2031. This implies that Stuttgart 21 will be completed approximately 12 years later than initially planned. This delay, occurring in a country like Germany, known for its infrastructure and engineering prowess, has only served to amplify the criticisms directed at the project.
